The Historic Preservation Office (HPO) at NASA
Ames Research Center establishes coordination with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation on all historic preservation issues related to properties at NASA Ames (located approximately one hour south of San Francisco, CA) which are designated as historic places, historic landmarks or historic districts by the Secretary of the Interior and the State Historic Preservation Office. This includes issues related to proposals for development of Historic District property, modification and adaptive reuse of buildings within the Moffett Historic District and the nomination of new candidate buildings for consideration as historic places. The Office provides representation for NASA Ames as the Facility Historic Preservation Officer in all matters related to historic preservation.
